General LETSI News

The SCORM 2.0 white paper solicitation and an associated press release have gone out.

The planned transition to new wiki software is on hold pending an effort to enhance the current wiki.

SCORM 2.0 Program Committee

We discussed the purpose and formation of the SCORM 2.0 Workshop Program Committee. The LETSI Tech WG will assist in forming the PC in this and the next WG telecon but after that point the PC will proceed independently (while keeping this WG informed of developments).

Several parties have already volunteered to participate, most from the previous face-to-face meeting at ADL in Alexandria.

Thus far we have:
Shane Gallager and the ADL Tech Team
Jackie Haynes
Chris Raach (ADL Academic Co-lab)
John Campbell
John Alonzo
James Xu (ADL - simulation & games)
Avron Barr
Fanny Klett
Person from DERI group (via Avron)
Tyde Richards

We need to broaden the global participation in the PC. Several telecon participants had suggestions that they will approach.

We discussed this PC requiring more work from committee members than usual because the task is not simply to review papers and select the best but also to abstract material and plan for workshop discussion.

We agree that there are likely to be three distinct roles for PC participants:
1) Overall PC Chair
2) "Technical Area" Chairs
3) White Paper Reviewers

We agree to produce a "job description" for these three roles this week (Avron, Tyde) and to distributed it to the PC volunteers so that they can solicit other participants. We agreed target the June 24 LETSI Tech WG meeting as the deadline for soliciting PC participants.

We discussed the date for the workshop. The length is fixed at 3 days and the event will occur the week of October 13. The precise dates need to be fixed soon to accommodate travel constraints.

SCORM 2.0 White Paper Solicitation

We encouraged LETSI Tech participants to submit white papers. We decided not to collectively make a list of specific other parties to approach but rather for WG members to individually approach people we know.

We identified a need for contributions from people who represent an end-user, as opposed to technical, perspective.

WG Near Term Project Goals

This topic was introduced but due to limited time in-depth discussion is deferred until the next meeting. We discussed several past WG activities that the WG can continue with over the summer to inform the October workshop. These include Core SCORM, content aggregation, and a revised version of the the "4-Box Model". A suggestion was made brief summaries of ideas in these areas could, in fact, be written up as white paper submissions for the workshop.

WG Infrastructure

No Issues.
